Yeah, I've been thinking that I don't know much about British actors, so there's no way I can speculate wildly about who the new Doctor might be.

IF there is a new Doctor. Seems as though they go through them pretty quickly these days. If he does regenerate, this will be his second to last life.

So I'm thinking maybe there will be a new Doctor for this one episode, and then there will be some fixing the time line bullshit, as there was last season, and we will be back to Nine.

Another thing's been on my mind? If we do get a new Doctor, we may not see his outfit until next season. If we are very lucky, we may see it at he very end of next week's episode.

Man, what ridiculous stuff to ponder.

From what I understand, David Tenant has signed on for 3 or 4 specials to air in 2009 & another season that will air in 2010.

The next thing that pops into my head is that we may still have a version of the Tenth doctor, just aged maybe? Some kind of fluked regeneration?

After all, River Song mentions how young he looks when she sees him in the Library.

Oh, yeah, River recognizing him, all the more reason we won't loose the Tenth Doctor.

Gah, I have not been this geeky in ages!

But yes, yay for more 10th Doctor. I'm not ready to say goodbye to him yet...

During the split-screen scene, I kept going back and forth between being annoyed by and feeling bad for Rose with her "I'm here too! Doctor, I'm here!"

Yeah it is, but honestly, I was thinking the same thing about the new doctor only showing up for the new episode, mostly because I heard that he was signed up for next season, so that kinda blows the "HE'LL NEVER BE BACK" thing. Also, the next season is going to be in 2010, not 2009. There will be a few specials, but for some reason, it's not going to happen soon enough.

This is why I don't keep track of stuff like star comings and goings and producer ramblings, too many spoilers. Like Christopher Eccleston accidentally leaking that he would cease being the Doctor after only one series. I love surprises and suspense, so I choose not to keep track of the production of the show, just the stories.

And it's not that it bothers me that much, really. I mean, I understand he choices Davies made when he decided to revamp the whole Dr. Who universe, and he's actually followed through with the implications of those choices quite well. It's just that I disagree with the choices.

Specifically--and this is all from just the handful of episodes I've seen, so it may all be figments of my imagination--but Davies seems to have decided that the core of the Doctor's personality now would be feelings of rage, guilt, and self-loathing. This makes perfect sense considering that the Doctor is the last surviving member of his species, but, well, it just doesn't make the character anyone I want to spend an hour a week with.

Of course, I'm a Dr. Who fuddy-duddy, having grown up watching the Pertwee episodes--he was the Third Doctor. Maybe it's just the cardboard sets I miss... :)
